“Come live in my heart, and pay no rent.”
Morning light and awakening to the day, to love’s possibilities was the inspiration for this shoot. Also, we had to shoot super early, at 6:00am to beat the Arizona heat. Boyce Thompson Arboretum provided lots of shade and gorgeous diffused light. Our sweet married models showed their palpable love for each other in this beautiful morning light. The styling was inspired by the beauty of the park and meant to blend and compliment with it.

“Dreams pass into the reality of action. From the actions stems the dream again; and this interdependence produces the highest form of living.”
– Anais Nin
When people have strong visions for something and then make it reality, it’s magic, it’s a dream. In prepping for this blog post I came to learn that Tlaquepaque in Sedona was created by a man’s vision to bring his love of Old Mexico to the bank of Oak Creek. The name Tlaquepaque derives from Nahuatl and means “place above clay land”. Which is also very appropriate for the red clay beauty that is Sedona. It was such an honor to be a part of Marissa and Chris’ dream wedding alongside the very talented Brushfire Photography that captured these gorgeous images for them. Enjoy!
“Through Love all that is bitter will be sweet,
Through Love all that is copper will be gold,
Through Love all dregs will become wine,
through Love all pain will turn to medicine.”
It was such a joy to create the florals for this gorgeous copper wedding inspiration shoot, created by the very talented Rachael Dufresne of Imoni Events. She had me at “copper”, “Paper Crown gowns”, Melissa Jill photographing… and then all of the other incredible vendors that banded together to pull such a unique and fun wedding shoot. It was so cool to witness how we took Rachael’s cues and inspiration and were given the creative freedom to create our individual pieces to provide an amazing and very doable wedding look.

Phoenix has long been known as a great option for a destination wedding. There all kinds of beautiful gems to hold a large or intimate reception. I was so excited when Kelsie of Pinkerton Photography reached out to create an inspirational Phoenix backyard wedding shoot at this gorgeous, rustic property nestled in the heart of the city. In seeking inspiration, I was drawn to using the Mexican heritage that goes back to well before Phoenix was a booming metro. Vibrant colors, textures and patterns as well as the delicious Mexican wedding cookies, churros, and “tile” cookies were pulled together to create unique “fiesta” style.

“The secret to a happy marriage is if you can be at peace with someone within four walls, if you are content because the one you love is near to you, either upstairs or downstairs, or in the same room, and you feel that warmth that you don’t find very often, then that is what love is all about.”
Upon my first meeting with Jesse, I adored her. She had effortless style and although a recent college graduate, an old soul. She told me that the wedding was to be in her parent’s backyard and that her dad actually was the one to set her and Daniel up. The wedding was to be all about their love, commitment and family. She comes from large family and they decided to only have their siblings as attendants and to only invite their nearest and dearest.
She wanted bright, rich color with a romantic feel, lots of glowing, golden light. We chose Garden Roses, Peonies, Anemones, Rancunculus, Eucalyptus, and hints of Bougainvillia in hues of fushia and pink.
Jesse created all of the paper goods and written elements with her unique and beautiful calligraphy. It inspired her to start her own paper goods business called Freed Hands. It’s so wonderful to see her work at local weddings and to know that it all stemmed from her wedding day!
We also had the great honor of working along side these other amazing vendors:
